Oral Conscious Sedation...

Oral conscious sedation is available to make your treatment more pleasant and comfortable.  This method uses oral medications and sometimes nitrous oxide (laughing gas) to produce a drug-induced state leaving the patient relaxed, free of fear, anxiety and apprehension.  This procedure is different than general anesthesia and does not have the inherent risks associated with general anesthesia.

Our practice will prescribe medication that you will take 1-2 hours before the visit.  You must have someone drive you to and from our office.  Patients are very relaxed but not unconscious.  Most patients describe the experience as "I know where I am but I really don't care".

Most patients sleep when they reach home and many do not remember even being at our office.

Feel free to talk to us about this and the options available.
